Event Food: Schneider's Private Warehouse Sale

G was all over the big sale at Schneider's warehouse this past Saturday. To celebrate 60 years in business (still in the family, run by Max Schneider's two grandsons), the Capitol Hill purveyor of fine wines and spirits hosted a little party and tasting along with great a sale at their 15,000 square foot, temperature-controlled warehouse in northeast.

Next door to this seafood warehouse...

The line spilled out the door of Schneider's warehouse...

People walked around sampling wine and eating the down-to-earth fare

All kinds of wine on sale. Sauternes...

Roederer Cristal at more than 30% off...

Other great cases on sale...

Old ports...
Great French...
...as well as American...

Antique bottle holders on display...

As for the food, it was of the picnic variety. There was baguette and (surprisingly good) cheese......pasta salad...

...delicious mac and cheese (didn't expect that!)...

...BREAD PUDDING WITH CREME FRAICHE!

Fruit.

...and roast beef, chicken salad, and turkey sandwiches on/in various croissants, ciabatta, and wraps. A very nice effort! All the catering was provided by MGM Roast Beef, which is also in northeast. I gotta say, for a cold, grubby warehouse party, the food was pretty good and I think I might see if they can cater one of our more casual parties!

...though the lines were REALLY long to pay, the service was great. We got three cases (two are being carried here by one of the staffers).

We even ran into some friends who came in all the way from Reston!
Our loot included three California reds:

1. Eagle's Trace Cab 2003
2. WesMar Zin 2006
3. WesMar Russian River Pinot 2006
